Oprah fans are eager to learn about Lauren who has been in the family for over a decade. Here is everything we know about Oprah’s dog’s age and breed.
How old is Oprah’s dog Lauren?
The age of Oprah’s dog Lauren is 15. She was born on October 23, 2009.
Oprah adopted Lauren and her late sister on a very special day. She gifted herself these puppies on her 56th birthday. The furry sisters were 14-week-old when the talk show host decided to take these four-legged babies home.
As per Oprah.com, the host said, “I did decide, though, to get myself a little birthday gift this year. Actually, I thought I’d get myself two.”
Both Lauren and Sunny were rescued “from the pound” and in case they were not adopted, “they could have been euthanized.” But luckily both the “little gals” went home with Oprah.
And if you are thinking about the name Lauren, Oprah always thought she would be naming her “next dog Lauren” and when she heard a rescue dog was named Lauren she thought it was fate.
What breed is Oprah’s dog Lauren?
Oprah’s dog Lauren is a Springer Spaniels. The dogs of this breed crave company, making them a perfect pet for kids. Their life expectancy is 12-14 years.
Although Oprah has many dogs, she never had springer spaniels hence she decided to adopt this breed on her birthday. Talking about her choice, the host further added, “I’ve had a lot of dogs, but I have never had springer spaniels. I’ve always loved springer spaniels.”
Oprah adopted the pups from Chicago-based no-kill shelter PAWS after contacting their founder and asking about springer spaniels in the shelter. Luckily, “They just arrived in time” for her birthday, fulfilling Oprah’s adoption wish.
