Pet Gala 2024: Anthony Rubio Recreates Met Gala Looks

On May 20, designer Anthony Rubio showcased his gorgeous recreation of some of the most iconic Met Gala 2024 looks at the Pet Gala. Similar to the fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, the Pet Gala is a fundraiser for the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog.

Pet couturier Anthony Rubio’s event ensures that humans aren’t the only ones enjoying the Met Gala. With the Pet Gala, dogs got to strut the red carpet. Canines got to flaunt recreations of some of the Met Gala 2024 outfits. A total of 18 dogs walked down the red carpet, each wearing one of the looks from the first Monday of May.

According to AP News, the Pet Gala will be an annual event from now on, much like the Met Gala. Anthony Rubio will hold it at the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog. The tickets are available for $300, and the proceeds help raise funds for the museum where it is hosted.

The designer noted that he doesn’t want anyone to misunderstand his intention behind the Pet Gala. The event is meant to appreciate the stunning pieces celebrities showcase at the Met Gala. He doesn’t mean to mock or mimic the annual event. He stressed that, instead, he wants to elevate the designs of some of the best fashion designers in the world.

Most dogs walking down the red carpet at the Pet Gala 2024 were smaller in size. The pet couturier picked the most buzzworthy pieces from the Met Gala. However, he ensured the designs were easy to recreate for the furry companions without leaving them uncomfortable. Moreover, the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog will exhibit the outfits for the month of June.

Also, the fashion designer noted that he would happily bring his furry friends to the Met Gala. He said, “…if Anna Wintour is listening — I would love to be the first one to walk on the red carpet with a canine model in canine couture.”
