Dogs often form strong attachments to objects, especially in unfamiliar or stressful situations. Much like a child with a favorite toy or blanket, some pups find comfort in seemingly random items that provide a sense of security. A recent viral video perfectly captures this phenomenon, featuring an anxious dog named Bucket, who found solace in an unexpected object — her very own namesake, a bucket.
Instagram video shows Golden Retriever parading a discarded bucket around the house
When Bucket and her family moved into a new home, the transition wasn’t easy for her. While her older furry sibling, Pacha, quickly settled in, Bucket displayed signs of distress for the first week. She was restless, uneasy, and struggled to adjust to her unfamiliar surroundings.
The video shows that on the third day in their new home, the anxious dog stumbled upon an old bucket in the garden and, for reasons only she knew, immediately latched onto it. The Golden Retriever proudly carried it around the yard before bringing it inside as if it were her most treasured possession. Though her owners initially kept the bucket outside, they soon realized that every time Bucket went into the yard, she would seek it out. Even in the rain, she insisted on carrying it around.
Understanding that this bucket was more than just a toy to her, the owners eventually let her bring it inside. The video shows Bucket parading the bucket through the house, placing it in her favorite spots, such as a cozy papasan chair or right next to Pacha. In the video’s caption, her owner humorously noted, “Some dogs have blankies to help with anxiety, others have emotional support buckets.”
Since it was posted, the video has gained over 40.4K likes and 273 comments, with people falling in love with the anxious dog and her unusual comfort item. One person joked that it was as if Bucket was proving she was always meant to have that name. The owner replied, saying they had originally chosen the name just for fun, but now believe “it was destiny.” Others chimed in with similar experiences, like one user who shared, “One of our dogs favorite toys were her steel bowls. She loves stacking and unstacking them, walking around with them.”
