A Golden Retriever named Hugo picked an adorable “first fight” with a spiky ball in a video that has gone viral. This battle was a long and intense one, with a break in between. Yet, what started as a fight quickly turned funny when the pup swapped battle moves for dance moves.
Hugo is the newest member of the popular online pet family. This includes his furry brother and fellow Retriever Maui and Corgi sister Ruby.

Dogs do not shy away from fights, and Hugo the Golden Retriever decided to prove his mettle by battling a spiky ball. The puppy’s adorable “first fight” initially started as curiosity about the object but became intense with time. The canine displayed his “Kung Paw” moves but kept it at a distance from the ball. The owner could not stop laughing at the furry baby’s antics, funnily noting that the pup was fighting “via Bluetooth.”
Hugo continued his fight with the spiky ball, only to realize his opponent was not fighting back. The puppy then switched to “dancing mode” for his battle. He continued to jump around the object, displaying a variety of dance moves. Eventually, the canine grew tired of his conflict and decided to take a break. When the pup resumed his fight, and it yielded no other results than being funny, his Corgi sister, Ruby, stepped in to put an end it all with a strong warning for her brother.
The video instantly went viral and has amassed over 440K likes as of this writing. Some fans loved Hugo’s dance moves, while others complimented Ruby’s timely interruption.
The owners adopted Hugo at eight weeks old in March and shared their journey of bringing their new family member home on Instagram. Alongside photos of the puppy snoozing throughout the way, his parents called him an “angel dog” in the caption. They revealed that their pet was “so calm, so sweet, and had no accidents on his long trip home.”
