If you have a Golden at home, you probably already know that your furbaby is afraid of anything and everything that moves. This could include lizards, bugs, flies, and other creepy crawlies. However, the list even includes their owners if they sport a look the pup hasn’t seen before. This dog owner revealed how putting on a sheet mask nearly traumatized her Golden Retriever, sharing his hilarious reaction in an Instagram video that has since gone viral. Charlie’s response to seeing his mom, Lauren, will make you double over with laughter.
Golden Retriever looks confused by owner in a sheet mask
No pet parent would willingly scare their furbaby. In this case, a dog mom simply wanted glowing skin, but traumatized her pooch instead in a hilarious encounter. The viral video showed a Golden Retriever giving his owner what she accurately described as a “dirty look” after seeing her with a sheet mask on. The subtext shared some context, joking, “POV: You just wanted to hydrate your skin but traumatized your Golden Retriever instead.”
The clip showed Lauren chilling with a sheet mask covering the entirety of her face, looking at her dog sitting on the opposite end of the couch. “Why are you scared?” she asked Charlie, who looked visibly terrified, with his face frozen in fear. The pet parent repeated her question, addressing the Golden, “What are you scared of right now?” However, he continued staring at her with wide eyes and a confused look. The blank stares kept coming, and so did the questions from Lauren.
The Golden Retriever then turned his face in the video, looking away from his dog mom and her scary sheet mask. Meanwhile, Lauren chuckled and continued with her questions. However, Charlie’s face looked like he had just seen a ghost. “Why are you giving me such dirty looks?” the owner asked, not that these questions helped de-escalate the situation. The following clips showed Charlie distancing himself from the couch and looking back at Lauren.
The one-sided stare-off finally came to an end after the dog mom removed the mask, and the canine found himself smiling again. Commenters pointed out how “concerned” and “confused” Charlie looked throughout the video. One user jokingly urged Lauren not to “even think about getting the LED masks!”
