Video: Owner Has a Bassinet but It’s Really Just for Her Chipoo

Millennials and Gen Z may be putting off kids, but they’re not skipping parenthood entirely — they’re just raising “fur babies” instead. From custom meals and doggy daycare to birthday parties and matching outfits, pets today aren’t just companions, they’re full-fledged family members. One Instagram video captures this mindset perfectly, showing a spoiled Chipoo living the high life in what most people assumed was a bassinet for a newborn. Spoiler alert: it kind of is.

Owner shows how her Chipoo rests in the bassinet in viral video

The now-viral video shared on Instagram opens with a shot of a baby bassinet sitting neatly in a bedroom. At first glance, it might seem like the home belongs to new parents. However, the on-screen text reads: “When guests see the bassinet in my room and get confused because I don’t have a baby.” As the viewer tries to make sense of it, a meme audio clip from “The Devil Wears Prada” plays: “Don’t be ridiculous, Andrea. Everybody wants this.”

The video then cuts to Atlas, the owner’s small Chipoo (a Chihuahua-Poodle mix), curled up inside the bassinet, snoozing peacefully like an actual infant. Another text overlay appears: “Then they realize who it’s really for…” The camera pans slowly across Atlas, who looks entirely at home, resting like a true VIP. It is a short and simple clip, but it speaks volumes about how we cherish our pups like children.

The comments section quickly filled with viewers who understood the sentiment all too well. “If not baby, why baby-shaped?” one user joked. Another wrote, “This is precisely the correct way to dog mom.” Someone else added, “What do you mean you don’t have a baby? I see a baby right there!” Even big dog parents chimed in: “For anyone with big dogs, I have a wooden toddler bed set up in my room for my shepherds.” Clearly, a lot of people saw themselves in this video and were happy to admit it.
