Video: Baby Sister Ensures Senior Golden Retriever Is Taken Care of After Injury

They say age brings wisdom, but apparently, so does being about three feet tall and still mispronouncing words. While many toddlers are finger painting on walls or hiding crackers in shoes, one little girl is proving that love and empathy don’t need experience, just heart. A recent Instagram video shows the youngest member of a household caring for her aging Golden Retriever’s injury in a way that’s not only adorable but genuinely touching.

A video shared on the Instagram account @harlow_thegolden features Harlow, a nearly nine-year-old Golden Retriever, lovingly looked after by her toddler sister after sustaining a leg injury. In one part of the clip, Harlow is resting on the floor while her baby sister gently drapes a blanket over her body. She even places a soft teddy bear plushie next to the dog, as if trying to comfort her in every way possible.

In another moment, Harlow lies curled up in her dog bed, and the little girl walks over again with a blanket, carefully covering both the dog and herself before lying beside her, keeping her company in silence. It’s a simple but moving gesture that shows just how deep their bond goes.

The caption on the post explains that Harlow recently experienced a health scare that left her limping and in need of rest. “Harlow started limping & thankfully we were able to take her to the vet within a couple hours of noticing her limp,” the owner wrote. After an examination, the vet diagnosed a slight tear in her CCL, or cranial cruciate ligament. CCL is an important ligament in a dog’s knee that functions similarly to the ACL in humans and helps stabilize the joint.

Fortunately, Harlow is already on the mend and no longer limping. “She’s still her same amazing, excited & happy self while she’s healing,” the owner shared. They also reflected on how the incident was a reminder that Harlow is getting older and how important it is to cherish every moment with her.
