Practicing golf can quickly test anyone’s patience, with missed shots and awkward swings adding to the frustration. However, one Golden Retriever has completely changed the game for her dad by turning the family’s living room into a makeshift golf course. A recent video captures her impressive focus and timing, showing her as the ultimate short game assistant.

Murphy, the Golden Retriever, has taken on the unusual role of being her dad’s golf coach. The video shows her helping her owner practice his short game in the living room using a golf club and a tennis ball. As her dad swings and sends the ball across the room, Murphy positions herself perfectly and catches it in her mouth. Her timing and precision are so spot-on that it almost looks as if she’s part of the training, rather than just observing.

The moment was captured on camera by Murphy’s mom, who couldn’t help but praise her pet’s impressive skills. Toward the end of the clip, she cheerfully calls Murphy a “good girl.” Adding to the humor, the video’s caption playfully imagines the pup giving coaching tips of her own: “He needs to keep his weight on his left side and stay aggressive through the ball.”

The clip quickly drew attention from viewers online, many of whom couldn’t get enough of Murphy’s talent. One comment suggested, “Dad and Murphy should go on golfing trips more often.” Another said, “Murph has been ready her whole life,” pointing out that some dogs are natural athletes from the start. Others shared funny comparisons with their own pets: “She is talented… my Golden would grab it in her head and then walk away.” Short and sweet praises like “Good catch!!!” also appeared repeatedly throughout the comments.
