Video: Dachsund Joins Owner in Carving a Pumpkin To Mark Halloween

There’s something about Halloween traditions that feels sweeter when a tiny four-legged friend gets involved. And in this case, it’s little Indy who’s stealing the show. The mini Dachshund from @indytheminidoxie looks absolutely thrilled when her mom brings home a big orange pumpkin. She gives her mom that classic look dogs do when they’re convinced the whole event revolves around them. Next thing you know, it’s a mini fall festival — an excited dog, a game human, and a soon-to-be glamorous pumpkin. And because it’s a throwback video, Indy’s mom predicts in the caption, “I don’t think she’ll fit in a pumpkin this year.”

More than 14.9K likes later, it’s clear this pumpkin moment has people completely smitten. It starts with Indy eagerly watching as her mom places the pumpkin on a mat, ready for carving. The in-video text reads, “This is your sign to carve pumpkins with your dog this fall.” Indy clearly takes that as a personal invitation. She sniffs, paws, and even gives the pumpkin stem a quick chew — quality control, of course.

As mom begins carving, Indy insists on being part of every step — hovering during scooping, supervising the cleaning, the works. At one point, Indy even starts nibbling at the inside of the pumpkin.

And just when you think it can’t get any cuter, mom slides Indy right into the freshly carved pumpkin. Indy, now wearing an orange headband and looking like autumn itself, fits perfectly. When mom hands her a tiny bite of pumpkin, that happy tail says it all — mission accomplished.

The comments say it all. “You’ll just need a larger pumpkin this year,” one person joked. Another added, “Pure adorableness! You GO, Indy!” There was even a comment from another Dachshund account, “Showed this to my mom and dad and told them this needs to happen in the next few weeks. OBSESSED.” Going by how much Indy and mom had with this project, we’re sure most dogs would want to start this tradition in their homes.
