It’s never a dull day in Morty’s house — especially if you’re missing something random from the kitchen. In a video shared by @my_life_as_morty, this floppy-eared pup from the “lover of belly rubs” school of life is caught red-pawed yet again.
His mom starts filming from the deck, asking her trademark line, “What do you have, Morty?” and the camera pans just in time to catch him proudly trotting out with a full head of lettuce in his mouth. The Labrador Retriever freezes for a second, looks right at her as if to say, “You mean, my lettuce?” Then he sneaks off down the stairs, lettuce and dignity intact.

Morty’s fans know this routine all too well. The lettuce is just one in a long list of thefts that includes butter, a makeup bag, deodorant, his mom’s shirt, and even a shoe box. Each time, the setup is the same — camera on the staircase, mom calling out, “What do you have, Morty?” and the suspense building until he makes his grand entrance with the loot.
In this video of the Labrador, though, the lettuce adds a new layer of comedy. The way Morty holds it — head high, eyes mischievous — one can almost see the wheels turning. He’s not sorry, not even close. Labradors are natural retrievers, fetching things is hardwired into them, whether you asked for it or not.
