Maverick, the Golden Retriever, doesn’t rush into fun; he studies it first, which makes the moment in this video when he finally takes the plunge down the slide even better. In a clip shared by @maverickthegoldennn, the nine-year-old “fluff ball” can be seen standing at the top of a playground slide, watching his mom go first.
She cheers him on with a “come on down!” and you can almost see him weighing the risk versus reward. A tail wag later, he decides it’s worth it, and his cautious little descent turns into the sweetest, most endearing moment of bravery.

Over four thousand people have already hit the like button on this adorable clip. There’s nothing better than watching a dog have a good time. The video begins with Maverick and his mom on the double slides at a park. His owner captures the moment from the top of the slide, where Maverick sits, looking slightly hesitant but fully engaged.
His mom slides down first, announcing her trip with an excited “wheeee.” Once she’s safely at the bottom, she looks up and tells him, “Come on down.” Maverick seems to gain a boost of confidence after watching her. He hops right over to the slide she just used, just to be on the safest, pre-tested path. He gives his tail a quick wag and then commits, sliding down to his mom’s joyful “whoaa.”
As he nears the end of the slide, his little tippy taps are too cute. It looks like he wants to enjoy the slide, but he also needs to control the momentum with his paws — just in case he accelerates too fast. His mom lets out an encouraging “Whoaaa!” and praises him with a happy “Good boy!”
Maverick lands gracefully, tail still wagging, and immediately veers off to the side, probably to scope out his next great playground conquest. He might be nine, but his playful spirit is definitely still under a year old. The sheer fun radiating from the screen is absolutely infectious.
