Every dog parent has experienced “the look.” That impatient stare your pup gives when you’re moving at human speed, and they’re ready to bolt through a door, chase a squirrel, or dive into their food bowl. For one Golden Retriever, waiting wasn’t an option. So, when his owner took her time unlocking the door, the dog threw a tantrum on video to let her know exactly how he felt.
Dog has a tantrum when he’s made to wait outside door in video
Lauren, who runs the Instagram account @laurencodyandcharlie, recently shared a video of her Golden Retriever, Charlie, showcasing what can only be described as pure impatience. The clip begins inside an elevator, where the pup waits with laser focus for the doors to open. As soon as they do, he charges down the hallway, straight toward his apartment door.
But the highlight moment comes when they reach the door. Lauren, who takes her time to fish out her keys, records as Charlie stands there, shifting from one paw to the other. For a brief moment, he waits calmly, giving her a look that seems to say, “Anytime now.” When she still doesn’t move fast enough, his composure crumbles. The Golden starts stomping in place, spinning around in excitement, and letting out tiny, frustrated huffs.
At one point, he even breaks into a playful case of the zoomies, circling near the door as Lauren laughs behind the camera. “Charlie, what are you doing?” she asks, teasing him. “You wanna go inside… cause you’re hungry.” His wagging tail and soft bark in response make it clear that she’s guessed right.
One user playfully summed it up with, “After walkie zoomies,” as if Charlie’s dramatic outburst was simply his post-walk routine. Another viewer quipped, “He’s trying to start a tornado,” referring to his frantic spins and stomps outside the door.
Dozens of Golden Retriever owners insisted that this wasn’t unusual behavior at all. “Oh, I guess all retrievers are the same,” one person wrote. Meanwhile, another imagined what Charlie might be thinking: “My show is on… hurry up!”
