Video: Dog’s Concept of ‘Quality Time’ Has To Do With Mom in the Shower

Some dogs just need to be close to their humans. They aren’t content just hanging out in the same room. They need to be glued to their owners. What if their parents forget about them? It’s a very real scenario in a Golden Retriever’s head. And that’s exactly the case with Jax, as you’ll see in this video of the dog wanting to jump in the shower with his mom. His version of “quality time” isn’t about toys, treats, or long walks. Instead, it’s simply being close to his human — so close, in fact, that even a shower door can’t convince him to take a step back.

Dog’s love language is spending time with mom in the shower in video

This clip has been winning hearts on the internet, and it’s easy to see why — it’s equal parts hilarious and sweet. The video opens with the dog, Jax, pawing at the shower door, clearly plotting his way in to spend some time with his mom.

He then pushes his snout into the opening. His human asks, “Can I just enjoy my shower?” The Golden Retriever backs away, looking annoyed. However, he pushes his nose through the opening again. “Why wouldn’t she want me there?,” he seems to be thinking.

When his first few attempts don’t work, Jax takes a step back, only to circle right back into the frame. This time, he sits outside the door, casting a classic side-eye that says, “Fine, but hurry up.” It’s a perfect example of how dogs measure love: not in distance, but in presence.

The video’s caption says it all, noting that Jax is “just a good boy with quality time as my number one love language.” With over 22K likes, the comments section is full of people who understood the Golden Retriever.

Many shared similar stories, including one who exclaimed, “My golden does the same! He sticks his nose around our curtain.” Comments from fellow Golden Retriever owners show that this is a common trait. One user wrote, “Gosh, I just love a needy golden retriever.” Another user, as if speaking for Jax, whined, “Moooom just let me innn.”
