Video: Owner Teaches Her Parents How to ‘Scoop’ Her Dog & Their Attempts Are Hilarious

Any dog parent will tell you that the easiest task — like picking up your pup — can actually be an extremely precise science. And Koda’s is as specific as they come. In this video, we see the Toy Australian Shepherd and his parents try to teach his grandparents how to “scoop” the dog up.

His humans, of course, have perfected it and now want to give a crash course to his grandparents. However, the move proves to be harder than it looks. The whole adorable training session is shared on the Instagram handle @chaoswithkoda. The clip is full of missed timings, laughter, and one very patient pup who clearly knows what he wants.

The adorable video was quick to pick up over 36K likes. It opens with Koda cuddling with his grandparents on the couch, right before the lesson begins. Then it’s time for him to demonstrate the move with his dad, Reece. The pet parent calls him over, the pup walks up, flops onto his back, and mid-stride gets smoothly scooped up.

Then it’s his grandma’s turn, and that’s where things start to unravel. She calls out, “Come here,” but Koda’s too quick, already rolling before she can bend down. He lies belly-up, staring at her expectantly. She tries again, but the little guy’s got the zoomies now. Eventually, his grandma succeeds in scooping him up, and Koda is a picture of happiness in her arms.

Grandpa’s turn isn’t any easier. The pup rolls at the wrong moment, his grandpa hesitates, and the “scoop” window closes. However, when he finally gets his arms around him, Koda beams, clearly thrilled that everyone’s playing his favorite game.

The comments section loved every second of the clip. One follower wrote, “He’s like, UHMMM, someone scoop me!” Another joked, “It’s a skill that takes years to master.” Going by the looks of it, we have to agree.
